Malmorakanda Estate has embraced environmentally friendly farming practices, avoiding synthetic inputs since 2018 and transitioning to natural soil enrichment methods in 2023. Their dedication to sustainability is also reflected in their efforts to conserve water, manage waste responsibly, and protect local biodiversity.

Handcrafting Techniques

The estate produces handmade artisanal tea using traditional, manual methods. Skilled artisans meticulously hand-pluck tea leaves, which are then processed through natural withering, hygienic hand-Rolling, controlled fermentation, and hot air drying. This ensures that each tea variant retains its unique flavors and aromas, embodying the art of tea craftsmanship.

Exclusive
Estate-Sourced Teas

All raw tea leaves used in Malmorakanda’s products are sourced exclusively from their estate. This direct sourcing allows for complete control over the cultivation and processing stages, guaranteeing high-quality, fresh tea products. The estate’s dedication to quality is reflected in their meticulous hand-plucking and selection process, ensuring only the finest leaves are used.

Situated in Wanduramba, Galle, Sri Lanka, this unique 10-acre property boasts a dedicated 3.5-acre space for tea cultivation. Four tea varieties 3025, 2026, 2027, and 2023 have been carefully planted here. Since 2018, we have refrained from using herbicides and insecticides on the plantation, and chemical fertilizers have not been used since 2023. We aspire to achieve international organic certification for the Malmorakanda Estate by 2026.
